Awesome Ergodic Literature

Ergodic literature

Some books can’t simply be read front to back. You chase footnotes into other footnotes, shuffle loose pages, turn the book upside down, or choose your own route through it. The scholar Espen J. Aarseth called this ergodic literature.

“…nontrivial effort is required to allow the reader to traverse the text.”

Espen J. Aarseth, Cybertext, 1997
